Pantherpelt stared after her, she was a pretty cat... but she was deputy. "Snowtiger is my mate. Shadeyheart is deputy." He thought aloud.

Shadeyheart sighed as she walked back to camp. Many things were tumbling around her mind, bothering her, and she wasn't sure what to do. She had finally become deputy, her lifetime ambition, and one of her greatest dreams. But quite suddenly a whole new dream had surfaced when she saw Pantherpelt. But this was a dream that could never come true. She desperately wanted kits.
She knew, with great remorse, that she was deputy, and would either die that way, or become leader, never have kits and die that way. Tears formed in her eyes as she realized her predicement. But either way it didn't matter. "Afterall," the voice said softly in her ear. "Who would want you as a mate?"
